Bodhi Forest Retreat nurtures soul and soil, offering sanctuary, mindful retreats, and the chance to participate in the cycles of creation and regeneration.

Bodhi Forest Retreat sits just a stone’s throw from Bodhi Khaya, carrying forward the same spirit of sanctuary while opening new possibilities for connection, creativity, and renewal.

As our dedication to conserving the Uilenkraal Valley deepens, so do the spaces we are building to serve both guests and the land.

Here you can enjoy all the beauty and peace that Bodhi Khaya is known for, while also stepping into the future we are growing: a place where ancient forests and trails lead you into the heart of the valley, and where a new barn workshop offers space for learning, making, and gathering.

The Barn

Our new multi purpose workshop venue and retreat space. The interior can be set up for many options including yoga and other movement modalities, art creation, food workshops and talks.

Main retreat space

At our main retreat house, we have 6 comfortable double or single rooms. 3 rooms are en-suite and also lead out to an enclosed communal courtyard. We also have 2 rooms that share a bathroom, and another room with bunk bed dormitory-style sleeping with an ensuite.

Separated from these rooms, there is a self-contained flatlet with a fireplace and its own sitting area, perfect for longer stays or facilitators. There is a large communal sitting area to relax and enjoy the large selection of books, which leads outside to the gardens and mountain views.

There is also a large communal dining room, sitting area and large fireplace as well as an outside wood-fired sauna and swimming deck at our dam.

Hard Pear Room

Sugar Bush Room

Tucked away in the corner of our main sitting room is our family-style dormitory bedroom with bunk beds, which sleeps up to 4 but can also be used as a single or double room. This room has a full ensuite bathroom with a shower and closet.

Buchu and Arum rooms

Our self-contained flatlet in the main house has its own bathroom and sitting room with a fireplace and back door leading outside. There is a comfortable double room as well as a single room in the flatlet.

Buchu Room is a comfortable double or single room, while Arum is a single room. This space is best suited for a facilitator or a small family.

Sharing Rooms

We have 2 beautiful double rooms that share a bathroom and both lead o the main sitting area. Sweet thorn is a smaller double room right next to the bathroom while Milkwood is a more spacious bedroom with its own door leading to the outside area and a bit further away from the shared bathroom.

Milkwood Room

In the main house, we have a beautifully appointed double or single room featuring large views over the gardens and seperate entrance with its own outdoor area. This room shares a bathroom and is situated in the main lounge area.

Trailer homes

Settled into the ancient forest clearings are our cosy trailer homes. All meals are included with trailer home stays and can sleep doubles or singles. The trailer homes have access to communal bathrooms in the main workshop area and are well-lit and spaced out for privacy.
